"If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain."

With the much needed rain that SouthWest Montana has been getting recently, we've seen a signaficant spike in the the Madison River.  Flows are near 4,000 cfs at Varney Bridge and are giving the old girl a nice spring flush.  Here in Ennis the Madison River is big and brown-brown. That will move those fish to the banks to forage on all the stonefly nymphs in the drift.  Fishing these waters at this time of year can be as rewarding as it gets but you have to be willing get down and dirty! 0X tippet and a #4 Turd are the norm.  High-stick 'em through the big eddies and bank seams.
